I’m the principal at Eastview Elementary School in Lakeville. Prior to the opportunity to be a part of the Lakeville Area Schools, I served as the principal at Sioux Trail Elementary School in Burnsville and my career in education began with my work as a teacher in Richfield. I enjoy working with a range of people, I like supporting growth and I love it when others, especially students, are successful.

My wife Beth and I were married in 1998 and have lived in Lakeville since 2001 We have a couple of dogs, enjoy traveling, love morning walks, and our community.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I enjoyed working with students as an elementary school teacher, wanted to broaden my opportunities to make a positive impact and I enjoy opportunities to lead.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
We enjoy supporting locally owned businesses whenever we can.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’ve lived in Lakeville since 2001; worked in Lakeville since 2013

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I appreciate the people in our city who are committed to service, and I think the Faces of Lakeville could be a great way to highlight their work.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Whenever we’ve had the opportunity to travel outside of Minnesota we enjoy discussing “where to next?”. Right now, our next destination is Hawaii, but the bigger question is when?!

Q: What advice would you give to people?
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.” “Listen more than you talk”

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I enjoy listening to classic rock or music from the ’80s.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Since 2002 I have been fortunate to serve as a Lakeville firefighter. I’m nostalgic about the old fire station in downtown Lakeville and would love to see whatever business is in there next to add some tributes to the fire service as part of their decor.

Q: If you could choose anyone, dead or alive; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
I would like to meet and spend time with my paternal grandfather. He passed away several years before I was born, I have his name, and have heard many stories. I would welcome the opportunity to learn from him.

I enjoy watching our city grow, yet still keeping a “small town” feel. I love Lakeville’s downtown as it has history, has a classic small-town midwestern feel, and is very intimate.
