After nearly 20 years in the corporate world, and over 10+ years investing in residential real estate with my husband, I decided to start a new business venture about 2 years ago, and partner with our property management company, Renters Outlet. Then, in November 2019, Matt McFarlan and myself, co-owners of Renters Outlet, LLC teamed up with Realty Group, Inc., as Alpine Realty based in Apple Valley. Together, Renters Outlet and Alpine Realty offer listing services, buyer representation and the full range of property management services.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a husband and 2 children ages 13 and 5. We enjoy our Minnesota summers on the lake, around the fire and on the hiking trails. During the Winter, we enjoy snow skiing, kids sporting events, and cheering on our Missouri Tiger Football team – always the underdog!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
It’s my passion turned into a career and it’s something my husband and I can do together! And, it’s a great way to build long term wealth and generate passive income.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Hum, that’s tough. I like several of them for different reasons. I love the Chart House for their patio, I like Porterhouse for their cocktails and apps and I like Teresa’s and B-52’s for the food! 😊
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Lakeville for the past 15 years, with a 2-year hiatus in the middle. When we weren’t living here, I missed it so we moved back!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I don’t know him well, but he always has a smile on his face and a great attitude – Owner of Culvers in Lakeville, Mike Budde. Additionally, Jeanne Hutter, Vice President Dept of Tourism for the Lakeville Chamber. She is extremely well networked and has always been focused on building relationships with her Chamber members. She’s a great advocate for the City of Lakeville!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
My dream vacation would be an African Safari, but I want to make sure my kids are old enough to enjoy before going…it would be an unforgettable experience for the entire family!
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Since I have a passion for investment Real Estate, I really enjoy watching many of the HDTV series!
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Successful people surround themselves with great people.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
The lakes here in Minnesota have always been so calming to me, I’d like to live on a lake at some point.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I like it all! To be honest, it depends on my mood…for an evening at home by the fire I like Chris Stapleton, Eric Church and the like! For a day on the lake with friends or workout mode, I’m really into Hip Hop…I love me some Drake! 😊
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
My family has always enjoyed going to Dairy Delight, Terra Gardening Center and Brackets pool….these are all ‘feel good’ places for me and my family!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The lakes, parks and trail system! I love the outdoor lifestyle that Lakeville has to offer!
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Alaska, the thunderous sound of glacier calving is unbelievable!
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
The 4th of July is my favorite holiday as there are no expectations…it’s all about being surrounded by close friends, family and fireworks!
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A perfect summer day with a cocktail in hand on the lake with my friends OR a perfect fall day on a hike with my family, hot apple cider and a great college football game in the evening
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
I surround myself with successful people. My husband and closest friends always encourage me to pursue new opportunities and take calculated risks!
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
I grew up on a farm and I love the smell of harvest.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Safe haven, my sanctuary and family!
